Spoiler-light practical guide
Zero Parades nationalities
Your character's nationality affects initial faction standing, dialogue options, and how NPCs perceive you. It is part of your roleplay identity, not just cosmetic.
Quick Answer
Nationality affects starting conditions and some dialogue branches. It does not lock content, but it changes the path to reach it.

Player Tips
Practical advice for using this information in your run.
First-run recommendation
Portofiran or Network Born are safest for beginners. Portofiran gives better early faction access. Network Born strengthens handler relationships, which provides consistent guidance.
Social route pick
Foreign Operative or Exile work best for relation-heavy builds. Their unique dialogue options create shortcuts through social encounters that other nationalities cannot access.
Intellect route pick
Unaligned surprisingly benefits Intellect builds. The flexibility lets you sample all faction dialogues before committing, which feeds information-hungry playstyles.
Nationality and faction reset
Your nationality affects starting standing, not permanent standing. Negative faction reactions from nationality can be overcome through choices — do not feel locked into a route.
All entries
Native to the city. Better starting standing with official factions, but underground networks may be suspicious.
Outside agent. More flexibility with foreign interests, but local factions start colder.
Displaced background. Unique dialogue options with other exiles and displaced characters.
Raised in spy networks. Natural affinity for Operant Bureau and handler relationships.
No clear national origin. Maximum flexibility but fewer starting advantages.
